GyrOSC is a lightweight utility that sends your devices motion sensors to any OSC (Open Sound Control) capable application over Wi-Fi. Wirelessly control your OSC capable audio or video app by moving and tilting your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.

Wirelessly send:

• Gyroscope {pitch, roll, yaw}
• Accelerometer {x-axis, y-axis, z-axis}
• Compass {magnetic heading}
• GPS {latitude, longitude, altitude, course, speed, time}
• Quaternion {w, x, y, z}
• Rotation matrix {m1 ... m16}
• Rotation rate {x-axis, y-axis, z-axis}
• Gravity {x-axis, y-axis, z-axis}
• Magnetic field {x-axis, y-axis, z-axis}
• Altitude {m, kPa}

Control any live audio or video application that supports OSC messaging. Some examples include Max/MSP, Pure Data, Processing, Plogue Bidule, Isadora, and more.

Features:

- Customize message tags
- Save and load addresses for quick setup
- Screen lock for performance
- Gyroscope orientation reset button
- Control buttons to send OSC messages

GyrOSC will automatically detect the available sensors in your device.

Pros and cons of GyrOSC app for iPhone and iPad

GyrOSC app good for

I use this app to collect the gyro datas on puredata, its perfect !
using this with max/msp and it works perfectly. best app ive found so far.
Fantastic app, perfect working on iPad 2, but not working on iPhone 3gs....
I use it for head tracking for flight sims. Works like a charm.

Some bad moments

This is certainly a great start. Features Id like to see: 1. When setting center, it would be nice for that position to be set as .5 instead of 0. Otherwise, I have to hold it off-angle, set center and hope my actual at-rest position lands where I want it to. 2. Ability to run in the background (if Apple will let you). I would like to run this in the background while using TouchOSC. 3. Auto-sensing OSC clients (like VDMX).
Easy to connect, nice interface, provides all of the gesture data Ive been looking for. Keep up the good work!
